New Music Video "Whales Are Dying" Released Today! Watch it now.
Help us to support the valuable work that animal rights conservations do by attaching this video to your Myspace, Facebook or any website page that will be viewed by the public.
The Sea Shepherd Conservation Society is one non-profit animal rights organisation that is actively involved in the protection of sea wildlife. They are currently out at sea intervening with the Japanese whaling ships with the hope of saving whales and stopping the illegal trade altogether. Their previous campaigns have cost the whaling trade millions of dollars, and their recent campaign has successfully prevented the death of any whales.
Orchestral art-rock band, The Red Paintings, collaborated with the Sea Shepherd to record this song the night before their ship, the 'Steve Irwin', left Australia for their latest campaign in Antarctic waters. Lyrics were written by lead singer, Trash McSweeney in conjunction with the Sea Shepherd's founder, Captain Paul Watson.
For more information about how to donate to the Sea Shepherd Conservation Society or to read updates written by the Captain and his crew out at sea, go to seashepherd.org or myspace.com/captainpaulwatson
Thanks for protecting the animals of the planet & a massive congrates to all on the Steve Irwiin. you guys are doing amazing things. What a change is to come.

AN UPDATE FROM THE EDGE OF THE OCEAN...
Hello Cyber-land,
Per usual, we have been really busy lately. There's the album (which we've recently shot some new music videos for), brand new TRP merchandise, and some shows we're lining up but before ANY of that stuff, something VERY important: Thank yous...
Thank you to everyone who helped us create our videos, and thank you to all who worked behind the scenes and to all of our fans who answered call for extras. As a result, we have some pretty incredible videos to show you guys in 2009! We also want all of you who came to our shows at Sounds Of Spring and Green Festival to know we appreciated it beyond what words can express. The shows were a great success BECAUSE OF YOU -- not to mention we had a great time playing them because of you, as well. Seriously, you fans, human canvases, painters, Maaike...you're all amazing. The conditions were not ideal for SOS Fest considering the main stage was washed out for over an hour, but you guys stood out there in the cold and rain with us and made it a show we will never forget! Neither will our guitar, cello, violin as they were smashed to bits. ; )
Now that we've gotten that out of the way, a few announcements and some calendar-marking news...
Check Us Out On peta2 - A Q&A With Trash McSweeney About TRP/Our Animal Friends
As you guys may know, animal rights is a subject close to our hearts and we have been fortunate enough to work with some of the most important people in the movement. Trash had the chance to answer a few questions for the folks at peta2 -- about the band, about his thoughts on animal rights, about all sorts of things -- and it's featured on their offical website and blogs! Please check it out HERE on the peta2 website, or here on their MySpace!
The Red Paintings Bring You A Halloween Show Like NO ONE ELSE!

Mark your calendars for this one folks! We are putting on TWO Halloween shows at The Valley Studios. We encourage you all to come in costume and bring your friends!
We also looking for painters and canvases for these shows so if you are interested, please contact us through our MySpace, or email management@theredpaintings.com
The shows will take place on October 31st and November 1st -- the October 31st (Friday) show will be from 8 PM with 2 support acts. The (Saturday) November 1st 4pm show will be an all ages event, so worry not if you get shut out of the Friday show due to age restrictions!
Tickets can be purchased at Oztix, Rocking Horse, Mosh Pit Music, Sunflower, Butterbeats City + Valley, and Music Mania but get them ASAP as they're going quickly!
The Sea Shepherd Benefit Show - OUR GRANDEST SHOW OF THE YEAR!

This is going to be one of our biggest and most important shows to date -- maybe even one of the last of the year -- and we certainly hope that you can be there with us. On November 21st we will be playing a very special show for The Sea Shepherd. Because we want to make sure as many of you can join us as possible, our friends at individuum are going to help us by making this event COMPLETELY FREE! Come support the freedom of the whales and you'll get a night not to be forgotten featuring a performance from us, and a speech by Captain Paul Watson...again, all for FREE! This will be a charity show, and we will be donating all proceeds to The Sea Shepherd Conservation to help them with their fight against the evils of the ocean. We really want to see to it that their forthcoming mission is a success, and also soften the blows from moorage fees they have been unjustly forced to pay. We will have art auctions, painters, and canvases at the show. There is also a spot for ONE special opening band to play with us this night -- if you think this should be you, then email management@theredpaintings.com ASAP
While we're on the topic of The Sea Shepherd Conversation Society, there is something we'd like you to read. They are less than six weeks away from leaving for the ocean, and critically need our help -- being that it will literally take you under two minutes to read this document -- less than the time it'd take to make a cup of coffee or smoke a cigarette -- hopefully you'll give it a shot. Please click HERE to see how to get involved. Heck, even forwarding this onto those living closer to the Brisbane area would be amazing.
The Revolution Is...Never Coming?
Sometime is feels that way to us too, but we are happy to announce that the album is in it's final stages! Stay tuned for more news shortly...maybe even a sound-clip in the coming months!
When we finish, we will be needing as much help as possible to promote it (as well as all of our touring and such), so please consider joining our street team -- the world is a big, big place but the internet brings it all together -- help us spread the word.
Thanks guys! We hope to see you around at the shows!

NEW TRP MUSIC VIDEO - EXTRAS NEEDED SEPTEMBER 13TH & 14TH!
Ladies and gentleman, friends, acquaintances, fans, and casual listeners/spectators...we, The Red Paintings, need your help! Every time we ask for help, you blow our hearts and our minds and we are sure this time will be no different, but we're a little bit nervous...time is short, so we REALLY need you to step up and...
HELP US WITH OUR BRAND NEW MUSIC VIDEO!
That's right, we need extras, LOTS of you, for our brand new music video from the forthcoming debut LP, The Revolution Is Never Coming.
The band will be shooting the music video on Saturday September 13th in Brisbane, Australia. We need about 100 people + to fill the stage with us. This is going to be a Morning/Arvo shoot, and it's shaping up to be one of the most unique and organic videos we have ever created...something you don't want to miss that we want all of your lovely faces to be in.
All extras need to arrive by 10am for the full rundown on shots and what exactly we're going to need for you to do -- then shooting will run for approximately 2-6 hours...it could go very fast, but we like to account for possible reshoots, mistakes, and of course random unexpected craziness...ugly little things tend to rear their head when you least expect it, so best to play it safe and book a longer time frame just in case.
Location of Shoot
Griffith Film School Studios
Corner of Vulture St & Dock St.
South Bank, 2ND Floor.
Take first left once in dock. There will be a young lady who will meet all those involved at front entrance across from the Maritime Museum .
We would appreciate if you could/would confirm your involvement in the video ASAP so that we have an idea on how many people to expect...we REALLY need to fill this stage up so please forgive us for reposting this until we get our allotment. Also, please let us know if you can bring any friends and perhaps repost this for us on your pages?...we'd love to have your help gatheting 'em. To confirm your involvement or for any additional information, please e-mail jdsmarshall@gmail.com and CC management with the subject 'The Red Paintings September Video Extra' (or call 0416119661).
Requirements and details are as follows:
There will be two scenes that need to be shot on the day.
Scene One
* 100 extras
* Dress Code -- If possible, please dress entirely in white, preferably with no logos or images (it's okay if you can't but those who are fully white, we can feature in close-ups)
Scene Two
* 25 Bodies to paint white like a human canvas. We will supply white wigs and crazy hat piece.
* 5 Bodies to be painted black.
- We will need to drop the black bodies from ceiling height of around 6-8 feet.
All you'll need to do is wear white underwear if you plan to be a white canvas, and black if...you got it, if you want to be a black canvas. There are showers you can use also, so please feel free to bring a towel to clean up and dry off.
Don't worry about the paint -- it's special and comes right off/won't damage your skin...it's a little cold, but quite fun. We promise. Many of you crazy kids have done it before so feel free to ask your fellow fans what it's like.
There is no payment involved, BUT we will supply food and drink. Plus of course you get the satisfaction and experience of something quite unique...a part of Red Paintings history.
Again, feel free to bring as many people as you like, but please try and drop us a line that you can do it. If you bring more than expected, awesome, just let them know dress code.
We are also on the lookout for 20 extras (only 20) on the Sunday (the day after/14th) to form an Orchestral scene. Let us know if you may be interested in shooting on both days.
See you soon!!

WAR OF THE RED WORLDS
Finally, some news on your favorite orchestral art rock band! The Red Paintings have been extremely active overseas this year for those of you who didn't know. Having just completed a 20 date US tour, the band flew direct to Winnipeg Canada to mix and complete the debut album The Revolution Is Never Coming with a highly sought after American producer. Financed by the bands extremely generous fanbase, the album has taken songwriter Trash Mcsweeney from studios in Brisbane, to Los Angeles, and now Canada! "Expect a war of the worlds sometime in the new year," says Trash McSweeney. The band are currently scheduled to return to Australia towards the end of July for very special FREE showcase concerts...we hope to present at least one show in each state -- all will have extremely limited tickets, so be sure to stay tuned to the TRP MySpace for regular updates, news, and maybe even some release dates (finally)!

PAINTERS & HUMAN CANVASES WANTED!
Since these shows will be themed after the "We Belong In The Sea" single and music video, we hope to capture the haunting beauty and overall feel of the song in a live setting. In order to do so, we want to try some new things out for all of you, but don't want to give too much away. However, as always, we want to have a few lucky participants directly involved in our journey. The band is currently working on set designs and plans for our human canvases, to bring the audience down under the sea with us...if you are interested in participating, please contact us ASAP by e-mailing seatour@theredpaintings.com with the subject "The Red Paintings Sea Painter" or "The Red Paintings Sea Canvas". If you are interested in painting for these shows, a sample of your work would be preferred (but not required). We will be selecting four painters, and two canvases or each show and would like to get everything locked in and explained to you as far in advance as possible.
TICKET CONTEST!
If you are not interested in being a human canvas or a painter at these shows, and have donated $40 or more to us in the past year, you're eligible for free tickets! The first 5 people from each city to forward seatour@theredpaintings.com the receipt you received (when you donated) will receive free tickets. Please include which show you would like to attend in the header...for example "BRISBANE We Belong In The Sea Tour Tickets". If you are a winner, you will be put on the VIP list, allowed to hang backstage with the band, and be a part of many other surprises.
These shows will be like nothing you've ever seen before from TRP, and we are very excited to share them with you before leaving for MUSEXPO -- these will be filling us with the good energy and positive vibes we need to have on our tails returning to the States, so the more of you who can join us for these, the better.

THE RED PAINTINGS & THEIR FANS START THEIR OWN REVOLUTION!
Six months ago, The Red Paintings embarked on a gamble and an idea hoping to answer a question: Could a band (without record label or management), raise funding to professionally record a full length LP, solely relying on the help of its one of a kind fan-base? As of this past weekend, the band had been blessed to find out; the answer is a resounding YES, they have done it! Many people believed it was impossible, but The Red Paintings have hit their target and raised $40, 0000 towards their debut album via fan donations.
Before recent alternative means, anti-label newsmakers Radiohead and Saul Williams, The Red Paintings were hard at work on their debut full length LP, "The Revolution Is Never Coming". Completely fueled by the charity of their fans -- from a few bucks, to in some cases hundreds of dollars -- every cent made a huge difference...as lead songwriter Trash McSweeney pointed out on the bands official forum this past July, donations of $40 or more not only counted as a "thank you" in the liner notes, but also as a pre-order for the record upon it's production... Though the band is about to dive head-long into their last month in the studio and readying of the artwork for the LP (with an expected release mid 2008), we had to share this bit of information with everyone, and thank you for all of your help and support throughout this battle.
A message from songwriter Trash McSweeney:
THANK YOU to everyone who has supported us to create our debut record, not just financially, but creatively as well.
For the past six months, we have been lucky enough to work here in Australia with New York producer Tidy Kid, all the while seeing a 35 piece string orchestra, harp, painters, woodwinds, brass (including french horns, trombone, and trumpet), and even a theremin, thru the studio. Fans have also come in and helped build choirs, leaving their own "fingerprints" on the record, which has made this piece of art much more special and true to me.
I think this is an incredible achievement for a band who has had very minimal support from the Australian Music Industry. We have had many doors closed in our faces, but despite many blows, we've kept getting up and pushed through, with the help and respect from our fans and friends...I am so amazed with this achievement, and consider myself very lucky -- you all have seen me through some of the toughest times.
When we decided to run with this idea, I was unsure and worried we weren't going to pull it off, but in the end you afforded me the ability to create this album the way I needed it to feel. It was important for me to do at least this one record on my own terms -- without outside pressure -- and you have afforded us that opportunity.
I had no idea just how much love and respect there was for us, and I am truly blown away that we have been able to finish this on our terms. I've dreamt of creating this record for six years, and we are finally in the last stages.
Again, thanks to all of you.
Here's to a successful new decade for The Red Paintings.
Next stop, US of A.
